Today was the Opening of School Celebration for Southern Hancock Schools! We love our community, and we were lucky to catch a few of them to help us thank our staff for all they do! #newpalproud
We hope all of our students and families are soaking up the last few days of summer. At Southern Hancock Schools, the staff is busy getting ready to open the doors for school on August 1, 2016. We hope all of our families are registered on PowerSchool and ready to begin the 2016-2017 school year.
Don’t forget the Elementary School Back to School Nights at NPE, SCE and BWE this Friday, July 29 from 4:30-6p.m. Come and meet your teacher, bring in school supplies and enjoy a sweet treat courtesy of the PTO organizations in each building.
Incoming 7th grade students, make sure to stop by Doe Creek Middle School on Friday, July 29 from 5-6:30 p.m. for a family picnic. This is a great time to try your lockers, find your classes and see your friends. We are excited to welcome you to Doe Creek Middle School.
We give a special welcome to all new students. We are pleased to have you at Southern Hancock Schools. We are confident our returning students will extend a warm welcome and help you with any questions you have as you adjust to your new school. We promote a culture of kindness at Southern Hancock Schools and are pleased to have you with us!
For all of our families with milestone students: pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, 7th grade and 9th grade, good luck in your new experiences. Transition into new buildings and new settings is exciting and sometimes filled with at touch of apprehension. The apprehension will fade quickly as students and families settle into a routine, make friends, get to know the staff and experience what makes Southern Hancock Schools great — the family feel!
Buses will roll on Monday morning. By now, you should have received information from transportation regarding your bus number and estimated pick-up and drop-off times. Please note that due to a printing error, some of the bus information on the postcards included last year’s school dates. The bus information you received is correct. Please have your child at the bus stop and ready to board the bus 10 minutes prior to pick-up time. And, remember that routes will generally run slower the first week of school. While we make every effort to keep the routes on schedule, delays can occur as we all learn the new procedures and schedules.
We look forward to welcoming all students on Monday morning. Enjoy these last few days of summer fun and we will see you soon!
Due to a printing error, some parents may have received a postcard of bus information with last year’s school dates. The bus information is correct, but please note that the first day of school is Monday, August 1. We apologize for any confusion.
New Palestine Elementary School, Sugar Creek Elementary School and Brandywine Elementary School will be having Back To School Night on July 29, 2016 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Stop by to meet your teacher, bring in school supplies and enjoy a sweet treat courtesy of the school PTO. We are looking forward to the start of school!
