This blog post is intended to keep you up to date on the happenings of the Board of School Trustees of the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County’s meetings. Please read below for a recap of the board’s regular meeting on April 13, 2020.
The board held it’s regular meeting on April 13, 2020, in compliance with all guidelines established by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Appropriate social distancing measures were taken and less than ten total people were in attendance.
Monday’s meeting was abbreviated due to COVID-19 concerns. The agenda was comprised of items deemed as essential school business only. The board plans to hold meetings only pertaining to essential school business until restrictions on the size of gatherings are lifted.
Six donations were approved. Jennifer & Matthew Dugan donated $50 to be used for Brandywine Elementary lunch accounts. Rebecca Elkins donated $50 for the Sugar Creek Elementary robotics program. Tessa Wolsiffer donated $100 for the SCE robotics program. Jamie Kehn donated $200 to the SCE robotics program. Crossroads Environmental Consulting, LLC donated $100 to the SCE robotics program. The board also approved donations of over $11,200 in dresses, accessories, and silent auction basket bids for the NPJH Dress Sale, which was held in February.
The board approved a resolution permitting the administration to provide pay to full-time employees who may not be working their normal hours during the school closure. This resolution will be retroactive to March 17, 2020. The board ratified a resolution at the March meeting provided paid emergency leave to employees who were either diagnosed with COVID-19 or ordered by a medical professional to quarantine due to a potential COVID-19 diagnosis. The resolution ratified on Monday permits all full-time employees to receive compensation during the school shutdown.
The board’s next meeting will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020.
