This blog post is intended to keep you up to date on the happenings of the Board of School Trustees of the Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County. Please read below for a recap of the board’s meeting on February 7, 2022.
Monday’s meeting began with recognition for the district’s six clinic assistants and Corporation Nurse Heather Barnett. The board thanked them for their dedicated service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Four donations were approved. Mike and Sarah Gizzi donated $5,200 to the New Palestine High School athletic department for the purchase of a Dr. Dish Shooting Machine. A recurring donation in the amount of $9.71 for Sugar Creek Elementary from Sandra Knox was also approved. Shannyn Walker donated $144.16 to the New Palestine Junior High band. Brandon and Jennifer Wilson donated $1,500 to be split between the NPHS robotics team, NPHS renovation project, and NPHS science, math, business, and foreign language department.
The board approved the cancelation of any outstanding checks issued more than two years ago. This is completed in accordance with procedures set by the Indiana State Board of Accounts.
The board approved a renewal of a contract with Walker Career Center to provide Career and Technical Education courses for students at New Palestine High School.
Renewals of contracts with the community’s youth leagues to use CSCSHC facilities were approved.
Director of School and Community Relations Wes Anderson reported to the board on the district’s switch from SchoolMessenger to ParentSquare for school communications. ParentSquare will be the district’s primary messaging tool beginning in 2022-2023.
The board’s next meeting is Monday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the CSCSHC Administration Office.
